dc.description.abstract This research modified and supplemented the program, ˹Mission-X: Train Like an Astronaut˼ that was introduced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to be appropriate for 4-5 year old children then examined the possibility of the chances on field application and proposed the practical use of the program. This is the first step in the year of 2015 among the consecutive task which targets to arrange supporting scheme to elevate childhood health. In addition, through the analysis of the childhood health related domestic law, looking into case studies of foreign nation’s health assisting policy and in-depth interview with field specialists, childhood health advancement methods were informed. For the research method, the current degree of childhood obesity, negative perspectives of obesity and its casual factors and the reality of South Korean children’s health state were studied from literature research. Through the examination of the context in relation to health that is mentioned in the National level of Nuri-curriculum, politically implied conclusion was reached while childhood health guidelines and educational policies that are mentioned domestically/worldwide were considered. Second, professor of Early Childhood Education and Childcare and principal of childcare center composed an external research collaborating team. Through the discussion with the instructor of Early Childhood Education and Childcare and Physical Education, field expert and policy working group, the Mission-X was modified and developed for 4-5 year old children. Third, the Advisory Conference was carried on to decide on the direction of the research, characteristics of the program along with the directional details, workshops were also held to seek for the application scheme on the developed program. Fourthly, based on the teachers and principals who work in kindergarten/daycare centers, efforts were made to detect the amount of physical activity levels, reality of nutritional related education and its problem while in search for improving methods. Moreover, in this research, the revised and supplemented version, ˹Childhood Health Improvement Program˼, of the ˹Mission-X: Train Like an Astronaut˼ that was brought by NASA, to fit 4-5 year old children was applied to 4-5 year old daycare students then after, opinions on the advantage∙disadvantage and accommodating points of the program were collected from Physical Education majored professors, principal of the childcare center, in charged childcare instructors and nutritionists to increase the practical use possibility within the site. Based on the result from this research, the modified and supplemented developed version of ˹Childhood Health Improvement Program˼ for 4-5 year old children and the propelling road-map for supporting methods on elevating childhood health are the following: □ Modified and supplemented version of ˹Childhood Health Improvement Program˼ targeting 4-5 year old children The program was optimized for each session to last 20-30 minutes considering the degree of children’s cognitive and physical growth and the characteristics of the child caring site. Also, not just simply dividing the original program and downgrade regulating the difficulty levels, it was further expanded to cover 35 activities involving the newly designed tasks. In addition, in order to allow the exploited ˹Childhood Health Improvement Program˼ to be conventionally used as an educational program on advancing children health, it was broadly classified into the application proposal within the annual Nuri-curriculum and utilization plan that differed the activity level of difficulties. □ Propelling road-map for endorsing projections to elevate children’s health First of all, in order to improve and develop a healthy body for our children, societal acknowledgment change should be aimed through the reconsideration on the recognition that is embedded within our society. Secondly, with the existing arranged legal system, the law should be incremented to guarantee reinforced children’s physical health and thirdly, by arranging political supporting schemes which targets the enhancement of children’s health, ultimately it would be possible to accomplish the encouragement of children’s health. For the specific policy assisting projection, strengthening parent’s capability on their children’s child care, developing and supplying programs, consolidating the connections between parents‧ institutions‧community, strictly administrating and supervising companies that distribute harmful food and expanding indoor gym facilities could be mentioned. -
