초미세먼지가 아동과 양육자가 함께 하는 주말 실외활동 시간에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 초미세먼지가 아동과 양육자가 함께 하는 주말 실외활동 시간에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보기 위하여 진행되었다. 2019년 생활시간조사에서 제공하는 만10세 미만 아동과 양육자의 실외활동 시간 및 그 외의 자료를 에어코리아에서 제공하는 초미세먼지 농도 자료와 결합하여 최종 분석자료로 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 엄마와 아빠가 만10세 미만의 어린 자녀와 함께 실외활동을 하는 시간에 영향을 미치는 공통 요인은 교육수준과 건강상태, 강수량인 것으로 확인되었다. 초미세먼지는 아빠와 자녀의 주말 실외활동 시간에만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 엄마에서는 초미세먼지가 자녀와의 주말 실외활동 시간에 영향을 미치지 않았고, 기온 요인이 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이러한 결과에 기초하여 아동과의 실외 놀이활동에서 엄마와 아빠의 양육행동 차이를 이해하고 아동의 긍정적 발달을 모색하기 위해서는 지역사회 내 다양한 실외활동 대체 시설 마련과 개방이 중요함을 강조하였다.

This study examined how fine particulate matter affects the weekend outdoor activity duration of children under 10 years of age and their parents. Combining the 2019 Korean Time Use Survey with fine particulate matter data from Air Korea, this study employed Tobit models for analysis. The analysis showed that educational level, health status, and rainfall were common factors influencing outdoor time for both mothers and fathers of young children. Fine particulate matter significantly reduced weekend outdoor time for fathers and children, whereas mothers’ outdoor activity time was unaffected by dust, although temperature did play a role. These findings underscore the need for alternative accessible outdoor activity spaces within communities. This approach can help address the varying parental roles and approaches of mothers and fathers in children’s play activities, thereby supporting positive child development.
