아동학대 피해 유아의 인지적 특성 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 빈약한 양육환경 속에서 적절한 인지적 자극과 교육적 경험을 하지 못한 상황 속에서 성장하는 학대피해 유아들의 인지적 특성을 알아보고자 연구를 실시하였다. 학대피해 유아들을 대상으로 이들의 인지능력(인지처리과정, 습득도, 순차처리, 동시처리), 각 하위검사의 강점과 약점, 각 하위검사의 정보처리 유형 등에 대해 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 학대피해 유아들은 얼굴기억, 마법의 창, 수수께끼, 산수 검사에서 높은 점수가 나타났고, 단어배열, 사진순서, 인물과 장소 검사에서 점수가 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 학대피해 유아들은 순차처리보다는 동시처리에서, 습득도보다는 인지처리과정에서, 또 순차처리척도와 습득도척도에서 과반수이상이 평균보다 낮은 수준을 나타냈고, 동시처리과정의 경우 과반수가 평균 범위로 나타났다. 셋째, 학대피해 유아들에게 강점으로 가장 많이 나타난 검사는 삼각형, 그림통합사, 산수 검사이고 약점으로 가장 많이 나타난 검사는 단어배열, 손동작, 인물과 장소 검사이다. 학대피해 유아들의 경우 인지처리과정과 습득도 표준점수에서 평균 이하의 수준을 나타냈는데, 이 같은 결과는 이들을 둘러싼 환경적인 영향에 의한 것으로 보인다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 학대피해 유아들의 인지적 특성을 파악하고 추후 학대의 후유증으로 인지발달이 지연된 유아들을 위해 인지발달을 이끌어주고 나아가 이들의 원만한 학교적응에 도움을 줄 수 있도록 도와줄 수 있는 인지프로그램의 최종 모델을 구축하는데 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.

This study investigated cognitive characteristics of abused young children. First, the analysis of abused young children’s scores for each subtest of K-ABC indicated that abused young children scored high in face ecognition, magic window, riddles, and arithmetic tests. Meanwhile, abused young children scored low in word order, photo series and faces and places test. Second, the examination of overall cognitive processing of abused young children showed that young children scored higher in Simultaneous Processing than in Sequential Processing, and also higher in Mental Processing Composite than in Achievement. Third, the largest number of abused young children exhibited strengths in triangles and Gestalt closure, whereas mostyoung children appeared to have weaknesses in word order and hand movements. The results of this study can serve as primary data for establishing the final model of a cognitive program that can promote abused young children’ delayed cognitive development, and their school adjustment.
