Abstract

This study explored the future prospect of childreairng trend and practices in 2040 of Korea, and also analyzed of the short-term demands of ECEC supplies by preschool and child care center infrastructure. The methodology of this study was online survey, focus group interviews, future study literature review, time-series analysis, and brainstorming discussions of this study researchers. Based on the diverse study results, emerging key issues and agenda were derived for future childrearing scenarios As a result, the main demands for long-term future childrearing supports were healthy environments for childrearing, proliferation of child-welfare policies, female labor oriented policies. Thus the demands were listed as follows: female labor market participation, online education and supports, multicultural society, artificial intelligence and the use of non-human facilities and robots, and the respect for family life against market labor-dominant culture. Thus the male participation of household keeping and childrearing was required as key necessity of future child birth and rearing.
