The purpose of this study is to estimate national standard cost of early childhood education in public and private kindergartens considering the new curriculum Nuri for age 3 to 5 which comes to be implemented in 2013. In addition, this study suggests the standard or adequate costs of extra-curriculum activities and various field trips in kindergartens. Research methods in this study were literature review, collecting and analyzing data on annual expenditure plans of 850 kindergartens from the public site on kindergarten information(e-childschool site), surveying 950 kindergartens on financial management, perception on standard cost of early education, the cost of extra curriculum, etc., referring to foreign countries(USA, Japan, Taiwan)’ ways of estimating the cost and subsidies, having the professional research team produce the standard cost of lunch and snacks, and official meetings with professionals in this field to listen to their opinions on some issues. As results, the standard cost of kindergarten education is 2,800 billion won for the whole country and 5,237 thousand won for annual cost per child. The standard cost of public kindergartens is 5,608 thousand won per child and that of private kindergartens is 5,099 thousand won per child. The standard cost of lunch and snacks in kindergartens is average 43,500 won per month. That of extra curriculum activities is 131,581 won per month per child. The adequate costs of field trips are distributed between 3,046 won and 6,825 won depending on the kinds of the activities.
