자녀의 재원여부에 따른 부모의 유아교육기관 선택에 대한 인식 비교

Abstract

본 연구는 자녀의 유아교육기관 선택에 있어 부모가 고려하는 요인은 무엇인지, 특히 유아교육기관에 재원 예정인 유아의 부모는 어떠한 선택 요인에 따라 유아교육기관을 선택하는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 경기도 화성시 소재의 유치원에 재원중인 자녀를 둔 부모 50명, 어린이집에 재원중인 자녀를 둔 부모 50명, 그리고 유아 교육기관에 취원 예정인 자녀를 둔 부모 100명, 총 200명을 임의표집 하였다. 이들에게 연구목적에 맞게 일부 수정한 ‘유아교육기관의 인식 및 선택 요인에 관한 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 자녀들의 재원여부에 따라 유아교육 이원화와 차이점에 대한 인식, 유아교육기관 선택 시 고려 사항, 유치원과 어린이집의 선택 요인 및 단점, 유아교육기관 선택 요인에 대한 고려 정도 등에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 즉, 유아교육기관에 재원 중인 자녀의 부모는 유아교육기관에 대해서 내용적, 구체적으로 인식하고 있는 반면에 취원 예정인 자녀의 부모는 구체적으로 알기 보다는 피상적으로 인식하고 있는 경우가 많았다. 그러므로 본 연구는 유아교육기관으로 하여금 유아교육기관 선택에 대한 부모의 요구를 알고 이에 적절하게 대비하는데 도움을 줄 수 있으며, 부모로 하여금 유아교육기관을 선택할 때 유용한 정보를 제공하여 합리적이고 적절한 유아교육기관을 선택할 수 있도록 도움을 주고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine factors which parents consider when they choose an early childhood education for their child, and to compare parents’ perception of early childhood education programs whether their child attends institution or not. The subjects for this study consisted of 200 parents (50 in kindergartens, 50 in daycare centers, and 100 whose child does not attend any institution yet). The instrument used was an inventory about perceptions and choice factors of programs. The results of this study indicated that there were significant differences in the perceptions of parents whether their child attends institution or not. The parents of school/center-going child perceived early childhood curriculum and programs concretely, compared to the parents of child who does not attend school/center yet. In conclusion, this study may give guidelines to both parents how to choose a right program institutions, and schools/centers how to prepare and meet parents’needs in selecting a program for their child.
