온정적/통제적 양육행동, TV 시청 시간, 유아의 정서 및 행동 문제 간의 구조적 관계

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 온정적/통제적 양육행동, TV(DVD/Video) 시청 시간, 정서 및 행동 문제 간의 구조적 관계를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널조사 5〜6차년도 자료를 사용하였으며, 만 4세 1,703명, 만 5세 1,662명의 유아와 가족 자료를 구조방정식모형을 활용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 만 4세 시기부모의 온정적 양육행동이 증가할수록 TV 시청 시간이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 통제적 양육행동은 TV 시청 시간에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 만 4세 시기의 TV 시청 시간은 만 5세 시기의 유아의 공격성과 주의문제를 유의하게 증가시켰지만 우울·불안에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 유아의 TV 시청 시간을 줄이기 위해 통제적 양육 행동이 아닌 온정적 양육 행동이 효과적이라는 것을 강조하였다. 유아의 정서 및 행동 문제 예방을 위해서는 TV 시청 시간을 감소시키도록 해야 하고, 공격성과 주의문제를 보이는 아동을 표적대상으로 한 TV 시청에 관한 집중적인 예방 교육이 필요하다는 것을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relations among parenting styles(warmth, control), TV(DVD/Video) viewing time, and preschooler's behavior problems. We analyzed the data from the waves 5 and 6 in of Korean Children Panel Study(KCPS), including 1,703 and 1,662 families with 4〜5 year-old children respectively. Structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, In 4-year- old parental warmth was significantly associated with shorter media TV viewing time. However, parental control had insignificant impacts on TV viewing time. Second, TV viewing time of 4-year-old was associated with increased aggression and attention problems of 5-year-old, but not anxiety/depression. Based on these results, we highlighted that warmth parenting style is more effective than control parenting style in order to reduce TV viewing time. We also suggested that in order to prevent behavioral problems of preschooler, TV viewing time should be reduced, and focused prevention education on TV viewing are needed to decrease attention problems and aggression.
